Located in north-central PA, the Pine Creek Gorge cuts “PA’s Grand Canyon.” Pine Creek Gorge is framed by towering palisades and dramatic rock outcrops crowned with evergreen forests and cathedral-like hardwoods. Numerous waterfalls and fresh mountain springs flow into Pine Creek during the spring and after heavy rains.

Nearby Wellsboro has lots to offer, besides just being a quaint little town! |
|
Wellsboro has places to stay, restaurants, shops, and occasionally has local events and festivals for everyone to enjoy. It can really bring back the sense of community in all of us and make you think back to simpler times.
Sports Afield Magazine named Wellsboro a “Best Sports Town,” and Canoe & Kayak Magazine named Wellsboro a “Top Paddling Town” because of its excellent location and small-town charm.
Wellsboro’s architecture, gas lit streets, village green, and friendly people evoke the image of an old New England village you thought existed today only on a postcard.

Sunset in Ansonia Valley, PA |

|
Pine Creek Outfitters is located 11 miles west of Wellsboro on US Route 6 along Pine Creek at the entrance to the PA Grand Canyon. Our base has on-site launching of boats and is conveniently located for nearby access to the Rail Trail and hiking trails. We are 3/4 mile west of the Ansonia bridge. Look for our red canoes and rough-cut building. |
|
Surrounding Wellsboro, beautiful country roads get many people lost in no time. |
|
The forest, called the “Black Forest” by early settlers, towers above the canyon and holds thousands of miles of trails. Almost half of all Pennsylvania’s State Forest lands are in Tioga, Potter, Lycoming, and Clinton counties. This region is PA’s most vast wilderness. Seemingly endless acres of public land offer a genuine utopia to backpackers, day-hikers, and all lovers of nature. |

Ansonia Valley Inn & Gas Station |
|
We are located in the scenic Ansonia Valley, site of a former glacial lake during the last ice age. It has very few residents, but there are several places to stay, a few bars & restaurants, and a gas station that serves Sunset Ice Cream. Some even compare Ansonia to “the Shire” because of its peaceful, rural setting. |

“Here we saw for the first time the beautiful, uncontaminated waters of Pine Creek. No stream ever flowed through more delightfully glorious surroundings. The hills, like small mountains, picturesque beyond the power of man to describe.”
