This level is too low for any boating activities. Minimum level for tubing is about 1.3 feet.
1.0 feet—TOO LOW
This is the minimum level for canoes and kayaks. Class I (easy) difficulty. Upper Pine Creek Only.
1.6 feet—MIN. LEVEL
Good depth for boating. Class II (moderate). Many boaters prefer it at about this level.
2.5 feet—GOOD LEVEL
This means we just got heavy rain. The creek becomes class III – and experience is required.
4.5 feet—HIGH LEVEL
Pine Creek Outfitters is located in North Central Pennsylvania near Wellsboro.
This area receives less average precipitation than the rest of PA.
Rain and thunderstorms will often dissipate as they move through our area.
The only water sources feeding into Pine Creek are smaller, local tributaries.
Pine Creek is considered the largest “creek” in the United States and feeds into the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.
Water levels can change quickly based on the weather within a few days of your trip.
Pine Creek is a natural stream with no dams controlling the water level.
Always check the creek conditions before your trip.
This area is considered a natural wilderness setting (very limited cell coverage) and you must plan accordingly.
Don’t rely on cell phones to save you in an emergency on Pine Creek or the Pine Creek Rail Trail.
